Daydream Island
The Whitsunday Coast encompasses about 74 islands in total – only 9 or so are actually inhabited, most of the rest are open for camping and day drips, etc. I had the pleasure of being invited to my friend’s sisters wedding at Daydream Island in June of 2007. Unfortunately while the weather was a little grey, the occasion provided plenty of warmth to keep everyone going. The island itself is fantastic – the flight was good, the transfers smooth and on time – everything was seamlessly connected which made the experience great.
The only thing the resort lacks is activities when it’s wet… because when the resort’s spa heater is broken there isn’t much to do apart from play pool in the atrium, eat, shop and lie in bed reading a book or playing games on your laptop. But apparently it doesn’t rain there often, which could explain the lack of forethought on the resort owner’s behalf. But, all good – it was still an excellent occasion and I had a great time.
