My new flatmates

Close friends and frequent readers may have been aware of the information that my lovely close friends & flatmates, Jake & Ryan, had bought a house together and were moving out. About a month before they were due to move out, I’d posted a number (3) of ads online, seeking a new flatmate.

Initially, I did the “gay only” thing – as I’m not quite sure if I was ready for some random straight boy to live here, particularly with some of the camp friends I have, like… JUST KIDDING. Okay, so none of my friends are camp – but some of the things we say on a Saturday night would probably shock anyone who wasn’t gay. I mean, just look at the whole “two girls one cup” conversations we have… yes Edz, I’m looking at YOU. Haha…

After about a month and a half, I found that I wasn’t getting many hits from the ads with my profile listed as “LGBT only” – possibly because I didn’t put up a photo of myself (or my c*ck, like some of the others… WTF?!? I’m renting a room, not my body?!? LOL), didn’t want to engage in sexual favours in return for discounted rent & / or didn’t really feel comfortable with strangers walking around the home in the nude (you should see some of the people that said they were interested… no thanks. Axe murderer. Pedophile. Creepy old guy. Axe murderer. Chainsaw massacre. Deeply Christian person. Next please…!)… so I changed my profile to accept flatmate offers from everyone.

I got a few people registering their interest, only to find out their maximum weekly rent was $100 below what I was asking – got one deeply religious guy, a straight guy who looked rather attractive (for some reason he insisted on posting a shirtless photo) but listed his interests as “drinking beer and parting with chicks yeah man!!! dude!!! tits!! yeah. beer!! beer and boobs man!!” er…. yeah. Perhaps he thought I was a lesbian and, as such, had hoped I’d put on a put of a show with my female friend. LOL.

Anyway, eventually, I got an email from two backpackers / students from Hong Kong. They need the room furnished, but don’t need much. They work one suburb away (early starts & early finishes). They wanted to move in “tomorrow”… so far so good. So they came and looked at the place and loved it. So 1 day later, they moved in. LOL. They’ve paid their bond and the first weeks rent, so all good so far. They’re also very quiet and clean. I know they used the kitchen last night because I heard them cooking – but when I went down this morning it’s as if nothing had changed! All dishes were washed and put away (I know this, because my investigations revealed a damp tea-towel :P ).

One of the boys asked if he could use the home gym (yes, of course – it’s there for everyone) and managed to do a super-quiet workout at 10pm last night. I slept through it and returned this morning to find every dumbbell and barbell reset to the weight I’d originally left on it (even though I knew he had to change them around, given he’s not as big as I am… toned and skinny yes, but not big) – I reckon my friend Samson would quite like him – except, of course, he is straight! :P LOL.

Anyway, so yeah. I mean I thought my last flatmates were awesome, but these guys, so far, are great as well. Good job everyone, lol. I guess the only difference with my new found friends is that because of their work hours and nature, they’re quiet and keep to themselves a bit I guess with Jake & Ryno they were always hanging around for a chat or down in the living room which I was cooking or whatever… these boys are a bit quieter and keep to themselves, but no issue – anything goes with me.

Tell me about your experiences!

Have you ever had a horrible flatmate (and Ryno, don’t login post a comment about me :P …haha, okay, you can if you want… LOL)? Any housemate disasters or spats? Any awkward moments of nudity or “oh, you’re home early!” moments? Were they ‘noisy’ in bed? Constantly in their rooms? Let me know via the comments below =)
