I take it personally (Session 10) …and 3 new PB’s!!

I take it personally (Session 10) …and 3 new PB’s!!

Today’s PT session was awesome!! Really awesome, actually. It was my 10th PT session overall, but the 9th actual paid one (out of the 10-pack that I have).

So why was it “really awesome”? Well, I broke three personal records (aka, got 3 new personal bests!!).

They were…

  • 60kg’s on the incline bench press
  • 70kg’s (yes, seventy!) on the flat bench press (I think I did 4 or 5 reps – towards the end of the set)
  • …and only 25kg’s on the assisted dips (remember that with assisted dips: the lower the number, the better… because the less assistance you have, the harder the exercise is)

W00t! I’m pumped. Well, I was. Now I’m just sore. Haha. But all good. I’m very happy with that; as was my trainer (well, he was). Haha. Oh dear. Anyway… LOL.

I also did some cable fly’s, dumbbell raises, dumbbell fly’s, dumbbell incline presses and then, to finish off the session, I was asked to do as many pushups as I could in 1 minute. Problem is, I was kind of rooted by this point. Like, really rooted.

If someone was to have given a commentary, I think it would have gone something like: “Okay Andy… pushups. As many as you can. Ready? Go! Okay, do we have one. Can we have a one? Anybody? A one? No… okay, how about a half? Do we have a half a pushup…? A third?” haha. But I eventually managed to get 3.5 (that’s three point five – not thirty five, lol) out before I ran out of energy. Then bodyweight dips on a bench… I think I got 12 of those out before I kinda slumped to the floor (which, thankfully, was only about 5 centimeters under my butt at that point anyway, haha). But all good.

You always know you’ve done a good upper-body workout when you have problems lifting your drink bottle to your mouth or trying to lift your arm to put the key into the door at home to unlock it. Yeah… I had one of those experiences. But that’s good – because I love it. Well, I don’t love the pain at the moment, but I will soon get over it and all will be swell. As they say… no pain, no gain.

We also chatted a bit about my weight gain progress (click here to see the graph in question), exercise progress and food diary – all good and all gold stars from my trainer today. That’s all for now, because my arms are still a little sore and typing isn’t making them any better ;P LOL.

Until next time, happy gains… :-)
