I take it personally (Session 11) …and another new PB!

I take it personally (Session 11) …and another new PB!

Today was the last of my original paid 10-pack of personal training sessions. I have decided to renew with another 10 sessions (since they’re great), but have dropped them down to 30 minute sessions to see if there’s any difference.

Today we mainly did chest work. For some reason I’m really enjoy chest work at the moment and I don’t feel too safe doing it at home because most of the time I’m on my own – if I can do it at the PT studio with a spotter, I feel much safer and, as a result, am prepared to lift bigger weights.

Speaking of which, you may remember that I hit 3 new personal best’s last week… 60kg’s on the incline bench press, 70kg on the bench press and 25kg on the assisted dips. I was most pleased with myself when my trainer started me off on 20 quick reps of 30-kilo bench presses as a warm-up before going straight to 70kg’s – last weeks’ new PB. Not only did I ace that, but then he put on 75kg. I think I managed to do 6 or 7 reps!

But wait… there’s more. We decided to give 80kg’s a shot. And god knows how, but I managed to belt out just under 7 of ‘em! Far out. Wow… I am quite pleased. Only 5 more kilo’s and I’ll be benching my own bodyweight. Perhaps next week we’ll reach that weight? :P Who would have thought that for months at home alone I was struggling with more than 35kg’s and now I’m hitting 80. It’s amazing what some motivation, hard work and a good trainer can do! :P

After that we did some incline fly’s, cable fly’s (my current favourite exercise), dips and incline bench shoulder presses. We also had a quick chat about my ongoing food diary updates and I’m going to drop the daily calorie intake to 3000 calories (down from 3500) and the protein down to 240 grams per day (down from 260), as I’m now at my target weight and I don’t want to accelerate too quickly – just in line with my training & muscle mass for a period before working on the weight some more down the track in the future.

That’s all for today. Have a lovely evening, and talk soon. Happy gains! =)
