Australia Day Eve
Last night (after work, mind you) our usual big group decided to go clubbing to The Beat. I finished work & went home (where my boy was waiting – he was cooking me dinner, too – awww!
) and had a nap. After about an hour, I went downstairs and he was playing Civ Rev on the Xbox… dinner was still in the over, cooking away. It smelled really yum
.
At around 6pm, we had dinner – his signature dish, Apricot Chicken. It was sooo yum. The chicken, having been swimming in the oven in a lovely apricot nectar for the last 2.5 hours, broke apart so easily – it was so soft. Anyway, we had that for dinner, then got ready for our night out. We got a cab over to Edz place and had a few drinks there, and walked in to The Valley at around 9pm.
The Beat was a little quieter than expected, but it eventually got a little busier around 11pm. Still not as full as I’d have expected. In fact, it wasn’t packed or anything like that. The music was shit though. I mean, usually one of us won’t like the music… but tonight, no one liked it. The songs they were playing were pretty good, but the remixes were all electro. Its like wtf? At one point he played some weird mix of “Evacuate the dancefloor” and we’re like… umm, everyone already has evacuated the dance floor? LOL. Meh.
Thankfully the DJ changed at around midnight, but the new one wasn’t that much better either. We went to the Wickham at around 1am and it was pretty quite too – they didn’t even have a DJ on! Just Nightlife or something similar. No one was dancing, but there were plenty of people inside and out chatting, playing pool, etc. We decided to go to the pokie room at the Wick… my boy put $10 in, and after only using $1 or $2 of it, he won $79!!! Woot
So basically he the night was profitable – having made more than he’d spent so far on drinks, taxis, etc
Awesome
We went home around 1:30am and I made some nachos for us since we were feeling like something nacho-ish
…and that’s about all really. Nothing too exciting. I was looking forward to a fun, big night, but the fact that I’d worked during the day, coupled with the crappy music they were playing at The Beat means it was good, but not awesome. Oh well. I made some new friends and had fun with the gang, so that’s all that maters really.
Today (Tuesday), we are having brunch with some friends of ours (in about an hour or so actually), so I’m looking forward to that. Happy Australia Day!!
