Weird dream
‘I’m feeling better than I was yesterday & the day before, so that’s alright. But I wanted to do a post on a weird dream I had a few hours ago. Funnily enough, the dream kinda ended and I woke up about 3 minutes before my alarm went off, hehe. Clever brain
Anyway, I can’t remember exactly how the dream started, but I remember Daz, The Girls and I were going to go down to the shop to get some ice-creams. The weird thing was, this was all happening in a Brisbane suburb called Yeronga, where my grandma used to live. But instead of lots of units and houses, there was a big forest and the suburb was very ‘rainforesty’. Anyway, off we all went to go and get some ice-cream – we walked down the road, took a left turn and crossed the train tracks via the overhead footbridge.
A train had just pulled in, and a bunch of people were getting off. Well, ‘a bunch’ was more like 500 – there were heaps of people. I remember we all got lost trying to find the exit stairs to get off the footbridge (it had many paths and steps leading all over the place for some reason). Anyway, eventually we found it. For some reason, the 500 or so people were all sitting down just outside the station on the grass, all taking to each other, etc. Weird. Anyway, all that separated them from the tracks was a wire fence and about 5 meters of grass and a few small trees, etc. Although the area & train station looked a bit like Yeronga, I remember the signs saying the station name was Goodna – which is weird, cause I don’t think I’ve ever been to that station before.
Anyway, as Daz, The Girls and I were trying to find each other again in the big crowd, I noticed a flat-bed rail carriage with a half-height shipping container (wtf?
) was just sitting on the tracks at a 45 degree angle (as in, derailed, and sitting across the outside set of tracks 45 degrees of the straight line of the tracks). I ran over to the group of people that were sitting closest to it. I was about to point-out the derailed carriage to them when I saw a long freight train coming down that set of tracks, backwards (as in, the loco was half a kilometre off in the distance, and it was driving backwards up the tracks – with the caboose type car coming first down the line, in stead of the locomotives). And it wasn’t just going slowly, it was going pretty damn fast.
I kinda just pointed, with words unable to escape me mouth… a few people from the group closest to the derailed carriage that was just sitting there, turned around to see what I was pointing at, but it was too late. BANG. The backwards-driving (wtf? lol) freight-train crashed into the derailed carriage – basalt (the rocks under rails), metal wheels and bits of carriage flew into the air and came crashing down all over the place. There was the sound of screaming, the sound of metal scraping and sparks all over the place. I got hit by a few flying rocks, but was okay. Some people has blood pouring down from their faces, but no one was dead. I couldn’t find Daz or The Girls anywhere. I called 000 on my mobile, but I got some automated service. Press 1 to pay a parking fine. Press 2… blah blah, it was kinda pointless, so I hung up and called that other emergency number, 112 (I think it is).
I told the lady what had happened but she said the main bridge into Goodna was damaged from the train derailment (somehow she already knew about it, even though it had happened about 20 seconds ago?!?). So I told her to send the Westpac helicopter. She asked “why the Westpac helicopter – did you need some money?”. LOL! I got really angry at her and told her they have a rescue helicopter [Westpac Careflight Helicopter] or something, and she’s like “Oooh, I see” and she arranged for it to arrive.
In the meantime, I went looking for Daz and The Girls. I found the girls, and they were okay – they had been out of range of anything dangerous, so that was good. I asked if they’d seen Daz, and they said yes, he has a broken Fibula (not sure how the girls knew this having not seen him, but this was a dream remember
hehe). I didn’t know what a ‘Fibula’ was at the time (but I just looked it up as I am writing this – calf bone), so I went off to find him.
I saw him in the distance and he was on a stretcher. I remember his dad being there (again, how his dad got there or even how I knew it was his dad [whom I've never met or seen before], I don’t know, but weird things happen in dreams). Daz saw me and mentioned for me not to come near, so I didn’t. Maybe he did not want his dad to see me? I felt really sad that I couldn’t console my boy – he was injured, his leg all bloody. His dad looked up and saw me. He said something to Daz, and then he motioned for me to come over. I gave Daz a hug and waited with him and his dad while the helicopter came and took the three of us to the hospital.
And then I woke up. Wow, weird dream hey? I actually enjoyed this dream – not because of what happened, but because it was so detailed & I remember it so well. I haven’t had a deep sleep with a memorable dream in a long time. I feel very ‘fresh’ this morning… like a lettuce taken straight from the vegetable crisper - with little water droplets on the crispy green leaves. hehe. I must’ve had a really deep, unbroken sleep. On Tuesday night I had about 11 hours sleep, and last night, I had 9 hours. I think I’ve finally caught up with my sleep. YaY.
What makes this dream even more weird, is that when I woke up I checked my email (I do that every morning as part of my routine)… and I had one waiting for me in my inbox.
It was to advise that a friend of mine was involved in a serious car accident a few nights ago. Everyone is okay, but she suffered a few broken bones. Maybe a Fibula?
