Only 7 hours until we get to open our presents
Hello everyone – I hope you are well. Wow, only 7 hours until we get to open our presents (the family is German, so we perform the act of ‘opening gifts’ at about 7pm the night before). I’m very excited this year, because (unlike the last few years) I have someone very special to share this family tradition with. I have got all of his pressies organised, but still need to write some Christmas cards for everyone – himself included. Not only that, but he gets to spend it with my family, and mum thinks he is just fantastic – so it should be a great night.
Speaking of great nights, last night Daz, Edz and his BF all came over for a dinner party I was hosting / throwing (not literally throwing
). I made Mexican Chicken Bake, and Edz kindly made an awesome mango mousse. It almost tasted like home-made mango custard.. it was soooo good. The texture was almost exactly the same as the home-made custard mum used to make.
We also drank some nice wines (YAY for free key-ring with our wine – oh, AND a bag of chips from the guys behind the counter! Kudos to the nice people at my local bottle-o for that!). We also played a really cool came called something BO. Skippy Bo or something – no, wait – Skip-Bo. That’s it! It took several hours to finish, but once we got into it and understood how to play, it was really quite fun. It’s sorta a mix between Uno and FreeCell (I think?) – there were multiple areas where one could draw cards from, which made it particularly challenging as each would have its own consequence down the line. You can peruse the table-setting pics in Misc. Stuff.
After that, we wanted a movie and Edz and his BF went home at around 12:30am. Daz stayed a little while longer, then we shared a lengthy goodbye near my front door
He has the next few weeks off, so I’m looking forward to going on expeditions with him, cooking for him, and just spending more time with him
We’re also spending NYE together with a small group of close friends, so that should be wonderful to be up on the roof in the cool night air watching the fireworks.
Four hours till he arrives, seven till we all open our presents… Merry Christmas everyone
