Long time no type?

Yeah… sorry about not having posted in a while, but it takes like 5 minutes just to setup all the stuff that goes around a post, let alone sit down and actually write the post. I can’t wait for this site to be all nice and database enabled so I can just log into some whiz-bang system and write my posts in there… then I’ll post more often – I promise! :)

I don’t actually have too much to report since my last post. Work is good – our annual reviews are next week; hopefully we’ll get a pay rise, but who knows… depends if they afford it, I suppose. For the sake of keeping us there, and keeping us happy, we hope they can afford it. I’ve been looking around and there are like mid-level Design jobs down in Sydney for $80k… and mid-level would be pretty easy for me to get into… but Sydney is meh. For now, I’ll just keep my eyes and ears open for Brissie jobs… just in case.

I like my job – don’t get me wrong, but some of the managers in other offices (read: managers in all offices but our one :P ) just don’t seem to get our vision for a bigger & better company – with a website system to match… online ordering, online forms, online support & self-paced training system, self-help guides, interactive movies, etc. Everything they do seems a bit backward to my boss & I… like NOT spending up big on A/V and presentation at tradeshows – especially in countries where we have little or no market penetration as yet (perhaps I should give them a copy of CX Magazine when they did a big article on that), releasing a product at least 6 months late (it was means to be out late October 2006), NOT testing software thoroughly before it’s released, NOT buying a test-bench to actually test said software on, NOT moving to an online model for support & user-paced training systems.

My boss can see my vision – in fact, he shares it with me – as do others (e.g., my colleagues) in our office, but yeah… like I said, other people in other places don’t seem to get it. Or they get it, but don’t think it’s worth the money or time. Who knows really – but it’s like no one’s listening. Sometimes I feel like giving up on my dreams there, because we don’t seem to be getting anywhere with them. One of my close friends there feels the same way – day in day out it’s the same old stuff – the development team refusing to test their software themselves, stuff is half-finished. Oh, look – I could go on for hours but I don’t want to. I’m just having a bit of a vent I guess. No doubt I’ll feel much better in the morning and everything with work will be sweet =)

Anyway, I’ll stop ranting now and leave you with some random’s to enjoy, and part of an MSN Conversation mum & I had a few weeks back after she came over for a BBQ & gaming session on the Xbox ;D Then, if you’re still bored, you might also like to check out Misc.
