Land of Confusion

Heya crew – I hope you’re well. I am – although, a bit sore from a super workout, heh. I broke a lot of PB’s during this afternoon’s session, so that’s always good :D What’s new? Well, not too much really… so I’ll just tell you how my week has been so far. On Monday night my friend came over and we went for a jog. Well, he jogged and I rode my bike around at the local park. It’s this new thing we’ve started together every Monday night. Good motivation I guess! The downside is that he lives on the Northside (not too far from the city though)… so he kinda has to come all the way over here after work, but so far it’s working out alright. Let’s hope we can keep it up, haha… next Monday, at least, is going ahead, so that’s good.

Work has also been really good this week – lots of work on company websites and so forth. We’ve also been having a number of webcasts lately – mini-tutorials you could call them, I guess. The only problem is that with the last three or so, we’ve had some technical issues. In one, a website hosted in our overseas office was down – lol. Whoops. Here’s my boss showing off this system we have and all of a sudden “The page cannot be displayed” :P . Then we rescheduled the session, but my boss’s machine semi-crashed… and then in another session on a different topic something didn’t even work.

Kind-of embarrassing for us, but more-so for my boss than for me – I just sit in these sessions to answer customer-questions; my boss is the one who actually does all the talking and demonstration work. Hrm… I think perhaps we need to do some more testing beforehand. Nothing against my boss, but he tends to prepare 30 minutes before we go live. If it was me, I’d prepare / practise the day before – just in case there’s an issue, that way we could make up some dummy screenshots and replace them in the live sessions. But that’s just me being a typical Virgo. I guess coming from a staging background (from my own business) I’m anal about making sure everything runs perfectly for the audience – no matter what happens behind the scenes. But the last few ones have seemed a bit dodgy :-S Ah well, can’t do anything about it now I guess.

Anyway… today’s title comes from a song by Genesis – I’ve been listening to this awesome 80′s internet-radio station at work and they play all these songs that bring back heaps of childhood memories. Here’s the Genesis one I’m on about – go the 80′s synth. Anyway, that’s all for now… have a good one :-D
