FretFest

This weekend has been great so far; infact, it feels like a long weekend (due to Friday off work). Today, we headed to the MilkBar for the FretFest 2004 (Brisbane’s biggest & best acoustic music festival) rehearsal. The actual gig is tomorrow and it’s looking very, very exciting!! Jono will be operating a video camera and laptop, I’m doing the vision switching (switching vision from 2 video cameras and 2 computers onto 1 big-screen projector & 2 TV screens) and there’s about 5 other crew members involved too – a few more camera guys, a stage manager, an audio guy and another laptop operator. The venue has capacity for 500 – 600 people, and that many people are expected tomorrow, so it should be huge!!

Last Friday was Jono’s birthday, so I took the day off work and decided to spoil him; after all he’s my boi and it was his 21st birthday. I had put weeks of planning into the occasion, and it went off without a hitch. His day (in a nutshell) began with him unwrapping some of his presents – a coffee-table QAF book from me, some chocolates from the accounts lady (at work), and a teaser-gift from mum & dad.

After that, we watched some morning TV together, then drove into the city for part 2. In the car park, I handed him his next present – a gift voucher from JB HiFi… as he’s been swearing at his current hi-fi / head unit for the last few weeks (it doesn’t work occasionally). We went in, and he selected one that he liked, and we went home and started installing it.

At precisely 12:15pm, a white stretched limousine rolled up at the door of our unit complex… this was the next surprise in Jono’s birthday!! Hehe! I had never been in a limo before (Jono had), so it was as exciting for me as it was for him! It took us to the Breakfast Creek Hotel, (click for pictures) where Jono’s parents were waiting, and we all had Brisbane’s best steak for lunch over a few drinks.

Here, I shouted him lunch, and Jono’s parents gave him his gift – a very expensive watch. After that, we all came over to our place and had some nice chocolate mud cake (click for pictures) with coffee. All in all, a fantastic day for everyone.

Happy 21st, babe :)
xoxoxo!!
