Armies hurties

Good evening everyone! My weekend just gone was excellent – on Friday night I did lots of work on some software I’m making for myself… stayed up till midnight, had a few drinkies – was good, and got lots of work done. On Saturday morning a client was meant to come over, but she had to postpone, so I did a workout instead.

I worked more during the day, and then at night I met up with some friends for dinner, dessert and a chat. Daz was at a birthday party, but met up with us afterwards. We went home quite late and went to bed after a bit. The next morning (Sunday now) I did some more work while my boy slept in (hehe!). We had breakfast and left the house at about 11:30am. We went to Bunning’s down the road to grab some supplies, then to Super Cheap Auto to get more supplies, then to Dick Smith at Logan, followed by Ikea next door (for lunch), then to another Dick Smith store.

And finally, at like 2pm, to mum-and-her-partner’s place to build two smoke-machine chiller units. Basically plastic storage tubs with a hole jigsaw’ed into each end (my first experience with a jigsaw was rather successful :D ) …and I”m now the proud owner of a sub-$30 jigsaw, yay! – and some metal tubing (like a pipe) is placed through the holes – in one end, out the other. Then sealed in place with sealant.

You then fill the tub with party ice (or dry ice) and put a smoke machine on one side of the pipe… the smoke gets icy cold and comes out the other side of the pipe a second later, really cold and it hangs low to the ground. Neat hey? It’s the effect of dry ice, but made using a normal smoke machine. We made two of them. The first one was kinda a practice one – it needs a new metal tube inside cause we kinda mangled it a bit – but otherwise its perfect. I’ll use them for the shows this year. Thanks to mum, her partner and my boy for helping make the chiller boxes :-)

At about 6 or 7pm we came home, I made pizza for us and we ate that while watching a Dirty Jobs episode.
All in all, a lovely weekend :-) Until next time, be good! (and yes, this post was really rushed, so it may not make much sense the first time you read it :P ).

PS: My boy really likes his anniversary / early-Christmas present (a black Nintendo DS Lite ;-)
